• NIOD CAIS 3 1:1 – Repairing staple serum

I’ve been using this serum for years now (6 years maybe?) and it’s about time that I review it.

CAIS is a copper peptide serum that helps to repair the skin and stimulate collagen production. It used to come in two bottles, the copper concentrate serum and the activator. Mixing the two resulted in the formation of fresh copper tripeptide-1 (GHK-Cu) which gives it this gorgeous blue color.

Last year, they managed to stabilize the formula into one bottle so that you don’t have to mix the base serum with the activator anymore. This latest version, CAIS 3 1:1, is ready-to-use in one bottle which makes the experience more pleasant and easy for the customer.

GHK-Cu acts as a signal and carrier peptide meaning that it helps transport trace elements into the skin – in this case copper- so that our cells can function properly. Copper tripeptides help to stimulate collagen production, support wound healing and are anti-inflammatory.

On the skin, this translates to healthier, refined looking skin – pores and wrinkles are reduced, skin tone looks more even. I’ve also noticed that it helps to heal breakouts much faster. Since it helps accelerate my skin’s healing process, Post-Inflammatory Erythema (PIE, the redness following skin inflammation such as blemishes) also goes away more quickly.

I’ve found that it works best when used in a minimalist routine, only paired with a more hydrating serum. The latter is necessary because CAIS has a watery texture that is immediately absorbed into the skin. It doesn’t provide any comfort or moisture on its own. I would say that this watery texture is the only downside to this serum because it makes it somewhat hard to use since you have to take care not to spill it by spreading it quickly onto the face.

Nevertheless, this is a staple serum for maintaining healthy skin that I keep repurchasing because I notice a difference when I’m not using it. I use it every other night to keep my skin balanced and healthy.

The 15ml bottle retails for 62$ and the 30ml for 93$. I always get it when it’s on sale.
