• Skin deep | A book for the beauty addicts

If you’re a beauty lover, a bit nosy and you avidly follow the Into the Gloss Top shelf features, then you need to get this book.

Bee Shapiro is a beauty editor who writes pieces for the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Glamour… She has a popular column for the NYT called Skin deep. There, she interviews celebrities – actresses, singers, dancers, models, makeup artists, entrepreneurs etc. – about their beauty routines. Doing so, she gives us a peek into their beauty cabinets – a dream for any curious beauty lover!

In the eponymous book, she has gathered more than 40 columns which go into depth about the beauty routines of her interviewees. I love finding out about the specific products they use, the beauty experts they visit and their general vision of beauty. With sections on skincare, makeup, hair care, fragrance, other services and diet & fitness, this gives us a good overview of their beauty and health regimes.

In Skin deep, you can also find sections focusing on professional beauty tips such as how-tos for camera-ready skin, bold brows, maintaining clear skin… Plus, Bee Shapiro tackles some current beauty trends, for example the recent changes in the beauty industry with the arrival of influencers.

This is an interesting read for anyone interested in beauty!
