• Royal jelly | The immune system booster

At the beginning of the year, I suffered a bout of illness for two months continuously which had never happened to me before. Today, I want to talk about royal jelly, a supplement that I was advised to take to strenghten my immune system.

Now for a bit of background, at the beginning of February, I caught a weird mix of sore throat/cold/fever. I took the appropriate drugs prescribed by my GP, but like clockwork, the illness was coming back every week. After two courses of antibiotics, I got fed up. That’s when I heard about royal jelly. It’s touted as a good supplement for maintaining a healthy immune system, hence my interest in trying it out.

Royal jelly is usually taken before seasonal changes to prevent sickness. So I didn’t know if it would work for me since I was already ill. But quite frankly at this point, I had nothing to lose. At any rate, I started the treatment at the beginning of April when I seemed to be getting better.

This particular supplement from Oligoroyal is a 20-day treatment course. Each ampoule contains a blend of 1000mg of royal jelly and two trace elements – copper and manganese – known for their ability to support the immune system. I like that it has a short ingredient list and that it doesn’t have too much added sugar. However, I could have done without the addition of a natural cherry flavor (a minor criticism).

They recommend shaking it well before diluting the ampoule in a glass of water. That’s an understatement! It’s very hard to get the product out because of the jelly texture. I’m warning you, you have to shake the ampoule like a mad person to pour its content into a glass. I think anyone would consider it a good workout for the arms. It’s quite annoying; maybe that’s what they consider to be energy-boosting?

Now, let’s talk about the results. It’s always hard to assess the effectiveness of a supplement. However, I can say that since taking royal jelly, this weird cycle of illness has stopped. In the middle of the treatment, my throat had begun to tickle ominously again. This supplement seems to have nipped it in the bud.

So, for me, it was a success. As a preventative measure, I will definitely start another course of royal jelly before next winter.
