• Winter skincare saviors

This winter I’ve felt a big change in my skin. It’s more dehydrated than it’s ever been! So I’ve had to adjust my skincare routine accordingly and I wanted to show you my winter skincare saviors.

    Hydrating serum

You know my love for the Jordan Samuel Skin hydrate serum. It’s a staple in my routine all year round. It contains aloe vera, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and plant extracts that hydrate and soothe the skin. And although it absorbs quickly, it plumps up the skin at the same time. The only difference in the winter is that I apply several layers of this serum until my skin is saturated with moisture. It’s a staple for me!

    Face oil

I’ve been using face oils for years now and there’s nothing better to keep the moisture into the skin. Oils make my skin feel nourished and supple. The combination of an hydrating serum and face oil makes for a perfect moisturizing emulsion. I particularly love marula oil because it has a nice viscosity (not too light or heavy) that lends itself well to massage. Plus, it’s full of antioxidants (such as vitamin C) and flavonoids which help to achieve a more even skin tone over time. I love the one from The ordinary which I didn’t have around at the time of taking the featured photo for this article. (I just got the Aroma Zone marula oil pictured here and I need to test it.)

    Nourishing balm

One thing I noticed this year is that I get patches of skin – like my laugh lines – that feel even more dehydrated, even after I’ve done my skincare routine. That’s where a balm comes in handy. I’ve been using the newly launched Overnight recovery balm from Ren for this step. I apply it on my dry patches and it forms a protective, soothing and nourishing layer that alleviates any tightness I might be feeling. So far, I’m happy with it!

    Hydrating face mask

Finally, hydrating masks are a staple for winter skin. It’s especially great when it’s cold and windy outside and it feels like all of your skin moisture has been drawn out. In this situation, I find that I need to take out the big guns to replenish my skin. The Josh Rosebrook advanced hydration mask is perfect for this. It deeply hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. After taking it off with a flannel, there’s an immediate difference in the way my skin feels: it’s soft, supple and plumped up. It was great discovery for me this year!
