I am always looking for certain types of colors, finishes and textures in makeup. For lips, I’ve had this obsession of finding a weightless pinky brown shade that fuses with the lips.
In my mind, I associate it with this image of a Vogue photo shoot in nature where the model is sporting the perfect unadorned, bitten lips. It doesn’t look or feel like makeup but just like this print of natural color.
Well, the search is over for me because this lip tint in chérie is exactly that. Apart from the shade, I also love the formula. Although it has the staying power of a stain, it doesn’t dry out the lips. That’s because it includes glycerin, squalane and hyaluronic acid which coat the lips in a light moisturizing layer. I find that I still need to reapply lip balm throughout the day as the hydrating effect wears off but that’s to be expected with most lip products.
The shade is buildable. As you can see on the last photo, the base color is pink but the overall tint has this overlay of brown. It’s also versatile in its finish since you can blot it/pat it in to get a true soft matte stain effect or leave the sheen that the moisturizing formula leaves behind.
Since getting chérie, I have expanded my collection with amour and poupette. You can see lip swatches of these three shades below.
It retails for 36$/0.19fl oz and it’s completely worth it for me as I wear them regularly.
